Free Ultrasound and Eye Check-Up Camp for Monks and Needy Patients by Sermey Social Service Society

Sermey Social Service Society Hospital, the medical department of Sera Mey Monastery, is dedicated to the health and well-being of the monks of Sera Mey as well as the surrounding communities. Since its inception in 2006, the Society has been committed to providing free medical services and treatment to all who visit the centre, including destitute individuals from local Indian communities and Tibetan refugees living nearby, without any discrimination.

On 11 April 2026, under the guidance and support of our esteemed Sera Mey Abbot, His Eminence Kyabjhe Neten Tulku Rinpoche, the hospital successfully organized a Free Ultrasound and Eye Check-Up Camp for monks and economically disadvantaged patients. This initiative was undertaken with the objective of providing essential diagnostic and eye care services to individuals who are unable to afford treatment at external medical facilities.

Access to accurate and timely medical diagnosis plays a crucial role in maintaining good health. However, many individuals from underprivileged backgrounds face financial barriers when seeking diagnostic services, particularly ultrasound examinations, which are often necessary for identifying a wide range of health conditions. Such procedures can be costly and therefore inaccessible to many in need.

Through this charitable initiative, Sermey Social Service Society Hospital aims to ensure that these patients receive proper medical diagnosis without the burden of financial constraints. Free ultrasound and eye check-up programs not only deliver essential healthcare services but also reflect compassion, equality, and a deep sense of social responsibility. They help ensure that disadvantaged individuals are given the same opportunities for diagnosis and treatment as others.

We firmly believe that providing free diagnostic services is an important step toward achieving equitable and accessible healthcare. These efforts support early detection of medical conditions, enable timely treatment, and contribute to building a healthier and more compassionate society.

“Early diagnosis through ultrasound helps doctors initiate treatment at the appropriate time and prevents serious complications.”

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our Sera Mey Abbot, His Eminence Kyabjhe Neten Tulku Rinpoche, and his student Tenzin la for their immense support and guidance in ensuring the smooth functioning of our social service initiatives. Their continued encouragement enables us to serve the needy and uplift those who are most vulnerable in our community.

Sermey Social Service Society Hospital remains committed to its mission of compassionate service and will continue to extend its efforts toward the welfare of all beings.
